Kaia Sand has worked as a college instructor, writing center director and nonprofit executive director. All the while, she has been a poet, artist and community organizer.
She’s done plenty of other work too – picking up garbage from the Oregon State Fair; slinging fast food at the mall, cutting cake at a bistro, working as a CNA at a nursing home, working at a state psychiatric hospital, teaching English in Japan, copy-editing a medical journal in London, working in clothes stores both stocking and selling, serving food and drinks at restaurants, bars and coffeeshops, and processing and cutting fabric.
