Join me June 21-June 27 at beautiful St. Mary’s College of Maryland where I will teach the poetry workshop at the Chesapeake Writers Conference.
St. Mary’s College is very special to me — a great place for reflection, poetry and politics where I held my first university teaching job (here is my account of my first weeks teaching there in the introduction I wrote for In Celebration of Lucille Clifton)

I wrote this poem by pulling hundreds of sentences I encountered in the Watcher Files that begin with the word she. This composed a drawer of copper cards, a poetic alternative to the meticulous index cards the police investigators kept on activists, as well as an accordion book.
